Interview Experience by Ms.R.Aishwarya
Hi friends,
I was the 5th one to go out of the 14 shortlisted for TVS SFL.
There were three interviewers, one HR, two Technical personnel.
Int 1 refers to HR, Int 2 and 3 to Technical personnel
Me: Good evening Sir, to whom may I submit the resume.
Int 2: First please take your seat
Int 1: Would you like to have some water? (My throat worst hit that day!)
Me: No sir, I have mild throat infection
Int2: Tell me about yourself
Me: I started with- I am Aishwarya doing final year Production Engg…..
Then my +2 marks,10th marks, my family ( abt members and their occupation)
Reason why I took production engineering
Then talked on my industrial training.
Int 2: (Saw my resume) You have visited almost all leading automotive companies in Chennai. Tell me about Ford.
Me: Spoke on the paint shop where we were imparted training.
Int2: Differences between Ford and other companies I went
Me: Ford- making of a complete automobile. Others were part manufacturers (WABCO TVS, REVL etc)
Int 2: Properties required for Piston Rings and special features of IP Rings.
Me: High fatigue strength, wear resistance, tensile strength
Int2 : Why butterfly valves are known so? (With ref to AUDCO valves)
Me: They have a wing like feature
Int2: No. They have a gate which flutters! (Even though I was wrong they dint ridicule,)
Int2: Uses of abrasives produced by Carborundum Universal?
Me: Grinding belts.
Int2: Where are these belt kind of abrasives exactly used..?
Me: For finishing operations.
Int2: In FORD paint shop did you see the applications of abrasives?
Me: Yes Sir, only now I recall, abrasive sheets are used in Scuff booth and Primer sanding operation.
Int2: This is the answer which I expected.
Int3: You have put management and machining subjects in your resume. Which among these are you comfortable?
Me: I am equally comfortable with both..
Int2: Tell me about lean manufacturing
Me: Explained the basics
Int 3: What is Takt time?
Me: I don’t recall sir.
Int 3: You talk about lead time but you don’t recall this??
Me: Sorry sir, I don’t
Int2: Manufacturing or inspection, which would you prefer?
Me: Inspection, since it gives me scope to find something faulty and find solutions.
(This answer of mine drew laughter among the panel! )
Int3: Will you work at shifts or you want a routine time schedule?
Me: Anything would be fine Sir.
HR: If given an option to choose among these two, would you like to go for design or manufacturing?
Me: I would prefer manufacturing Sir.
HR: Work would be strenuous; design would rather be a cosy option.
Me: I am more interested towards manfg.
Int3: Would you prefer mgmt or core mfg.?
Me: I said mgmt.
Int3: Can you recall something put on the slides in the morning today?
Me: Spoke regarding Profit, global exposure…
Int3: You left something main! (Smiles)
Me: 16,700 p.m…….then continued regarding the pay
HR: Good.
Int3: You are very good in observation, but why bad on books? (With smile)
Int2: You know how much you have scored in test?
Me: I asked 60 on 80?
Int2 and Int 3 laughed.
Int2: That was a good wish but you haven’t scored that much!
Me: Oh
Int2: Saw my resume and asked about the test conducted by Univ of South Wales
Me: Explained
Int2: You have ample responsibilities undertaken and awards ;are you ready to take up the job in case you are offered?
Me: Yes, I am ready!
HR: What are your negatives?
Me: Weighing all sides before coming to a conclusion.
Int2: How do you call it a negative?
Me: Does not work well in friendship..
HR: Ok, interested in higher studies?
Me: No, not for now.
Int2: Do you feel you know enough?
Me: I feel it is time to practise.
Int3: If the company sends you for PG?
Me: If time for work and studies are manageable, then would do
